Brief

The brief was to define a prototype for an extranet for the National Union of Students.

The project was intended to bring together several disparate sites under one umbrella, enabling the many departments within the NUS to communicate more effectively between themselves, whilst also allowing them gain a better understanding of what other areas of the organisation are doing.

Research & Implementation

A full content audit was done of each site and stakeholder interviews were carried out in order to gain an understanding of how each department uses the current sites, and what they need from the new extranet.

All this research was refined into a site map and a collection of process flows and user journeys, demonstrating how each core group of users might approach the site and how they might find pertinent information.

A set of wireframes were developed into a fully functioning prototype in order to demonstrate further how users might interact with the system.

The prototype contained detailed examples of how users could configure their own homepage, of the contact database would work, and how a number of other interactive elements on the site might work.

Screencast of the Prototype

This is a demonstration of some of the key interactive elements of the proposed extranet for the National Union of Students (NUS).

The wireframes were created using Axure RP Pro and are being demonstrated here using the Safari web browser.
